Description
YSL Caftan arrived in 2015 with the first wave of Le Vestiaire des Parfums. Calice Becker drew on Moroccan fabrics — the caftan garment it is named after — and the red earth, black incense and crowded-market warmth reads on both the box and the juice.
The opening is spiced citrus: pink pepper throws a sharp spark while tangerine and bergamot broadcast brightness. In the heart the collection's most striking face takes over: benzoin's honeyed sweetness, olibanum's sacred woody air and the leathery resin character of styrax fold into each other. The base lays down labdanum for a dense warmth while musk runs a clean powder thread underneath.
Not an extrait but a strong EDP; it runs eight to ten comfortable hours on dry skin with a medium-close sillage. Autumn and winter evenings, indoor wear — that is where it earns its place; summer daytime can feel heavy.
On a wholesale perfume shelf, Caftan is one of the easier-to-sell pieces from LVdP, YSL's most niche-leaning designer wing.
