Description
Mugler Angel, created in 1992 by Olivier Cresp and Yves de Chiris, is one of the most significant releases in modern perfumery history. It invented an entirely new category — the gourmand fragrance — by combining edible ingredients (cotton candy, praline, chocolate) with the traditional vocabulary of fine fragrance in a way that had never been attempted before.
The opening is immediately distinctive: cotton candy, black currant, melon, pineapple and mandarin deliver a sweet, fruity burst that is simultaneously playful and adult. The cassis adds tart contrast; the tropical fruit notes keep the sweetness dynamic rather than flat.
The heart builds the gourmand core: honey, red berries, blackberry, praline and coconut. Praline is the structural centre — a warm, caramelised nut sweetness that transitions the fruity top into the deep base. Peach, apricot and spice notes (nutmeg, caraway) add unexpected complexity.
The base is defined by Sumatran patchouli in combination with chocolate, caramel and vanilla. This is Angel's signature: patchouli that is simultaneously earthy and sweet, dirty and edible. The iconic refillable blue star bottle adds collectible value. Available as wholesale perfume through Beyazıt Parfüm — a foundational women's fragrance for any serious retail collection.
