Founded in Paris in 2007 by Clara and John Molloy, Memo Paris crafts travel fragrances — each bottle a passport stamp. African Leather was composed to capture the sensory landscape south of the Sahara: dry earth, acacia smoke, sun-warmed leather, distant spice routes.
Guatemalan cardamom opens the composition with warm aromatic spice; Egyptian geranium and pink pepper add a rosy metallic edge. The combination is unusual — herbal and floral at once — setting the stage for a heart of rose absolute and leather accord. The leather here is raw rather than polished: animalic, slightly waxy, thoroughly compelling.
