Description
Givenchy Gentleman Boisée Eau de Parfum, launched in 2020 and crafted by master perfumer Olivier Cresp, represents the most intensely woody chapter of the Gentleman franchise. Cresp sourced his raw materials with uncommon precision — each ingredient listed with its country of origin, a rare transparency in contemporary perfumery.
The opening unfolds with black pepper from Madagascar and Vietnam, coriander from Ukraine, and geranium from Egypt and China — a global trio that creates an immediately sophisticated, spice-forward statement. The geranium adds a green, rosy facet that softens the pepper's heat.
At the heart, Italian and Chinese orris root anchors the composition with its powdery, slightly lipstick-like iris quality, while cacao pod brings an unexpected dark chocolate-like depth. Virginia cedarwood provides structural support without hardening the overall feel.
The base trio — Australian sandalwood, burnt wood, and Indonesian patchouli — is the fragrance's most distinctive signature. The sandalwood is creamy and smooth; the burnt wood note brings a slightly smoky, campfire character that elevates Boisée beyond the ordinary.
