When Dior launched the original Sauvage EDT in 2015, it quickly became one of the best-selling men's fragrances in history. François Demachy's follow-up in 2018 — the Eau de Parfum — kept the brand's signature Calabrian bergamot opening but shifted the entire composition toward greater warmth, richness, and skin-bonding longevity.
The opening burst of bergamot from Reggio Calabria — a protected designation of origin citrus with an intensely luminous profile — is complemented by pink pepper and geranium. But the EDP's unique fingerprint lies in the heart: Lavandula stoechas, a compact butterfly lavender harvested from sun-baked Mediterranean fields, brings a spicy, almost rosemary-adjacent character absent from all other Sauvage versions.
The base's ambroxan — a synthetic amber material with a warm, musky, skin-like quality — is what creates the EDP's signature enveloping drydown, often cited by wearers as deeply personal and addictive.
