Description
Launched in 2009, Bal d'Afrique is Byredo's tribute to the Parisian fascination with African art, music, and dance during the 1920s. Perfumer Jérôme Epinette captures that era in a fragrance that is green, aromatic, and gently floral without being heavy.
The opening of bergamot, African marigold and buchu is bright and distinctive — the buchu leaf in particular adds a blackcurrant-like facet that sets this apart from standard citrus openings. Violet and cyclamen in the heart are delicate yet clearly present.
The base of Haitian vetiver and cedarwood delivers dry, earthy depth, rounded by tonka bean and musks for subtle warmth. Wear time is moderate; sillage is restrained and refined.
For wholesale perfume distributors, Byredo commands premium shelf placement and attracts a loyal niche audience willing to pay full price. Stock the 100 ml format for gifting and personal luxury segments.
